This Privacy Policy explains how Ante ("Ante," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website at getante.today and any related services, features, or content (collectively, the "Service").

Ante is a play-money educational game. No real currency is wagered, deposited, or paid out on the Service, and nothing on the Service constitutes financial advice.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect information such as your email address, username or display name, and password (stored in hashed form).
• Profile information. Any optional details you add to your profile, such as an avatar or display preferences.
• User-generated content. Content you create on the Service, including custom prediction market questions, market descriptions, resolution criteria, comments, and group names. Note that content you post inside a group is visible to other members of that group.
• Communications. Information you send us directly, such as support requests, feedback, or emails.

Information collected automatically

• Gameplay and activity data. Your lesson progress, quiz answers, streaks, Acorn balance and transactions, achievements, market positions, and group memberships.
• Device and usage data. IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, pages visited, time spent, referring URLs, and interactions with the Service.
• Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. See Section 6 (Cookies) below.

Information we do not collect

• We do not collect payment card numbers, bank account information, or any real-money financial account details. Ante is free and uses play-money only.
• We do not ask for or knowingly collect government identification numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including saving your lesson progress, streaks, Acorn balance, and market activity;
• Operate social features, such as private groups and friend markets;
• Personalize your experience, such as suggesting lessons or displaying achievements;
• Communicate with you about your account, updates to the Service, and (if you opt in) product news;
• Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the Service;
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, cheating, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• With other users. Your username, avatar, achievements, and market activity are visible to other members of groups you join. Content you post in a group is visible to that group.
• With service providers. We share information with third-party vendors that help us operate the Service, such as hosting providers, database services, and analytics providers. These currently include Lovable (our development and hosting platform), Cloudflare (site hosting and content delivery), and Supabase (database and authentication, provided via Lovable Cloud). Usage analytics are provided through Lovable's built-in project analytics. These providers may only use your information to perform services on our behalf.
• For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
• Business transfers. If Ante is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

We do not share your personal information with data brokers or advertisers.

4. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the Service or provide any information to us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@getante.today.

Users between 13 and 18 should use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except that residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being purged, and except where we are required to retain information for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Aggregated or anonymized data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

• Essential cookies - required for the Service to function (e.g., keeping you signed in).
• Preference cookies - remember your settings and preferences.
• Analytics cookies - help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.

Our legal bases for processing are performance of a contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service), and consent (where required, e.g., for marketing emails). You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
